ZS2EZ'S ARRL TRIPLE PLAY AWARD PROGRESS PAGE
In January 2009 the ARRL institued the WAS Triple Play Award. In short, to attain this award one must work all 50 US states on all 3 modes - phone, cw and RTTY. Furthermore all confirmations MUST be via LoTW for this award. As working even a mixed WAS from South Africa is difficult, at first I did not pay much attention to the award. However as 2009 drew to a close, it became evident that my totals on the three modes were climbing, and I began to pay more attention to the award goal. At the close of 2009 I had 108 of the required 150, and in the RTTY Roundup in January 2010 I completed the RTTY section of the award when I worked W0TUP in North Dakota.
The CW portion of the award took a bit longer, with the final two States (Wyoming and Mississippi) being worked on the same night in December 2010. (Many thanks to WY7LL and K2FF respectively)
The final State on Phone (SD) was worked on 16 December 2010, when Keith K0HKL responded to my call on 20m. This made ZS2EZ the first ZS station to successfully complete the WAS Triple Play Award!
Due to administrative delays at ARRL Headquarters I had to wait three weeks for the award to finally be issued. Eventually on 7 January 2011 Triple Play Award #492 was awarded to ZS2EZ!!
